The Last Lecture: Dr Randy Pausch

The Last Lecture Dr sexy PauschCarnegie Mellon University take uped a set of Professors to give a message of a manner historytime as if it was their last lecture before their conclusion. Ironic all toldy for Dr. Randy Pausch, it was his last lecture because he had learned that he is going to die short due to Pancreatic Cancer that has spread to his liver. That is what it is we cannot change that, we honest extradite to deal with it. Dr. Pauschs inspirational speech was not about death it was about life and how to achieve your childhood dreams. His sense of humor and enthusiasm is what triggered the earshot to become inspired with his life lessons.Randy Pausch started off his speech by introducing the elephant in the mode which he told the audience that he has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and will die soon because of it. He chose to tell them about the cancer at the beginning because he believes that if there are issues distracting your audience, address them sooner rather than later. He says that we brace to deal with what we are facing because it is not in our hands to change the future. Therefore, kinda of feeling depressed, we should sample to enjoy the time that we have left. If I do not seem depressed as I should be, good-for-nothing to disappoint you. He makes it clear that he is not in denial of whats going on, he is just dealing with the spot in a positive way. Randy knows that he has ten tumors in his stomach and that he only has six months to live he chooses to spend them with his family rather than worrying about the future. Pausch uses a couple of techniques in his lecture to inspire the audience with his talk. He knows that the audience might get aroused when they learn that he is doing to die soon due to sickness so he creates a sense of humor through and end-to-end his lecture as much as possible. For example, he told the audience that even though he is dying soon, I am in much better shape than most of you, and he star ts to make push ups to show that them that he is physically strong the audience respond with laughter and applause. Pausch laughs, smiles and tells a lot of jokes throughout the lecture instead of feeling depressed and sad. Throughout his speech he gives away his stuffed animals, wears an Alice in Wonderland hat, and wears a football jacket because he believes that audience is more likely to have fun and cherish life if they see you doing so in your speeches. Moreover, he could have used a serious tone for this speech. He could have stressed every word as if it were a matter of life or death however, that would have drawn more attention to his condition instead of his main message and the point of the talk was to learn something out of it instead of feeling low for him. Due to these reasons, Pausch told the audience at the beginning of the speech that he will not talk about the cancer, wife, or children because the audience is going to get emotional including himself as they are ve ry sensitive topics to discuss.Randy Pausch introduces the main points of the lecture and what he will exactly talk about. Even though Pausch tries to give the opinion that the speech is not personal, to some extent it is as the content of the speech are on the personal lessons Randy Pausch has learned through life, and he illuminates these through personal stories. The first topic he addressed is his own childhood dreams and shows the audience pictures of him as a child smiling and looking happy all the time to reveal that he had a great childhood. He also stated that one of the many great things that his parents allowed him to do is paint his own mode as he had the chance to express his creativity. As a child he believed that if a man can land on the moon, anything is possible. As a child he always wanted to become an astronaut but he never did however, NASA created a competition for college students to design a accredited wander and the winners would go up in to the air in Vo mit Comet, (a plane used by astronauts to practice before traveling to the moon) and experience weightlessness as if they are on the moon. Pausch was so excited that his students won until he learns that faculty members are not allowed to join. He makes this point by explaining that this was like a brick besiege in his life and Brick walls are there for a reason, they let us prove how badly we want things. Moreover, he didnt give up and he had to imposter as a journalist as they were allowed on the plane.Another dream that Pausch shared is the dream of becoming a professional football inclineer and play for the national team which he never did. I got more out of that dream that I didnt accomplish, more than any other dream that I did accomplish. Also, his check in school would make him do extra push ups, laps, and practice so Randy thought he was making him practice extra just because he didnt think he was good enough until someone told him when you are screwing up and no one is bothering to tell you anything , thats when they give up on you. Moreover, the critiques in our lives are the ones who basically love you and care about you. Also, Randy tells the audience that even though he never got to play as a professional football player, football is still a part of him and while talking, he wears his football jacket and ball and starts playing with it. Another point that Pausch makes that I personally thought it was important is that almost every thing we learn, we learn indirectly. He explains that by saying that when we send our children to play football, we dont actually send them to play football but we actually send them to learn skills like teamwork and sportsmanship. Another dream that Pausch shared is the dream of sharing knowledge with other and he did when he was selected to write an article in Wikipedia. Pausch believes that one of the most significant things in life is to share knowledge and pass it on to others. He expresses his humor by sayin g that being selected to be an author of Wikipedia, now I know that it is a reliable source that you can use. The next dream he introduced is being like/ meeting captain Kirk which he intended to write it that way to amuse the audience and make them laugh. It was his childhood dream to be like master Kirk because it was a show that taught leadership skills. Even though he wanted to be like Captain Kirk he got to meet the actor.Another dream that Randy talked about is being an imagineer at Disney Land. The first time he went to Disney Land as a kid, instead of saying I want to experience this he said, I want to make stuff like that. One thing Randy learned during his experience that I thought was important is When you are close off at somebody, you just have to give them time and they will impress you. I believe that he is right because there is no objective reason to be upset at anyone as we are all human beings who make mistakes. Also, life is too short to be upset with love on es and you never know when your life will end. Moreover, Pausch became one of the imagineers who designed the game of Aladdin and Alice in Wonderland. This experience forever changed him as he learned that artists and engineers can pay off great things together. Another important thing that he learned which I also thought was important was that all good things come to an end and you should try to enjoy it as much as you can.Later on, Dr. Pausch taught a course at Carnie Mellon University for ten years about building virtual worlds. When Pausch stopped educational activity the course he gave handed it someone better to run this course. When you have something so precious, you should hand it to someone better than you. There are many lessons with certain techniques that he used to persuade the audiences with, which were about life that I thought, are important to mention. Its important to have parents and mentors in your life. In this part of the speech, Pausch showed pictures of his parents on rollercoaster to one time more create a sense of humor. Also, he said that it is very important to give up the time to help others as we are blest to have what weve got and others need our help. Moreover, dont complain, just work harder. He gave an example of a baseball player Jackie Robinson who swore he would not complain if people spat on him. I think he gave this example to imply that people complain too much he is dying and he chooses not to complain. Also, when he was in school and complaining to his mother, she said I know how you feel, remember when your father was your age he was fighting the Germans. Once again she uses this example to create a sense of positive energy in the atmosphere. Another important message is Have fun I am dying and I choose to have fun. He believes that he cannot tell other how to have fun it is like telling a fish how to swim in the sea. Finally, apologize when you screw up. I am sorry, I am wrong, and what can I do to make things be tter. Pausch believes that many people apologize but they are too egocentric to ask What can I do to make things better? In my opinion one of the most memorable moments in the lecture is when Pausch said focus on others, not you and as an example, he got out a huge birthday cake as its his wifes birthday and the audience started to sing Happy Birthday to his wife. In this moment, Randy reveals his emotional side when he hugged his wife. It is very emotional because although throughout the talk he tried to be as enthusiastic and energetic as possible, when it came to his wife he couldnt resist but give a sad face. Also, showing emotions is one of the best ways for a speaker to connect with an audience. Moreover, throughout the lecture he reveals the dreams that he had as a child and how he runed each dream but in my opinion, I think he the most important dream of all that he wants to fulfill but cannot is the dream of to live longer and see his children grow up unfortunately, he cann ot fulfill that dream.Dr. Randy Pausch concluded his lecture in a very strong way by summarizing his key points to get his audience to think about what he said. In addition, he reaches back to one of the concepts introduced earlier which was the head fake and reveals that his entire speech has been a pair of head fakes which makes the audience rethink the wholly speech in their heads. Finally, at the very end he reveals that the whole speech was not for the audience but for his wife and children. As a viewer, I realized that at the end of the lecture that Pausch was seizing every opportunity to make speeches and write a book for his children as they are too unexampled to have memories of their father. Moreover, all the childhood dreams and life lessons he has taught throughout the lecture were talks that he wants his children to one day know about them and follow those life lessons he has talked about. In my opinion, even though Dr. Randy Pausch tried to hide his emotional side thr oughout the lecture, the lecture was to some extent touching to the audience. The feature that hes dying in a couple of months ,yet giving a lecture on how to achieve your dreams and live your life is somewhat emotional to the audience. In addition, his situation makes the audience feel sorry for him even though if its not his intention to this speech. I believe that the speech wouldnt have been that successful if another person who was not ill would have given the same speech. Besides the skillful techniques Pausch used, the audience wouldnt have been as persuaded as they were by a different person prophesy the exact same words because they psychologically feel like the need to listen to him because he is dying and in a way they feel sorry for him. Moreover, I believe this reason is one of the several motives to why Dr. Randy Pausch was listed as one of the hundred most influential people in the world.

Apples Management Strategies

orchard apple trees commission StrategiesIn a highly competitive environment such as the computer and technology industry, the bodily structure of an organization needfully to balance the benefits of a free and creative workforce all the while employing rigid guidelines to ensure cost control and efficiency. Apple Computer tried to obtain this grey area of counsel when they restructured the organization in 1992. While some of the techniques they implemented looked promising, others appeared as if they were not going to solve their current problems. To facilitate creativeness in generating refreshing and unique products, Scully leave behind articulate a far-sighted vision very broadly, at a 50,000 foot aim and leave the lower take managers and workers to fill in the blanks. While it is important for Scully to allow the engineers freedom in generating ideas for in the altogether products, he may be allowing them too much freedom. With go forth providing the lower level worke rs certain specifications and milestones, they will surely overshoot their budget and miss deadlines. To ensure that these milestones are met, Scully should provide them with a semi-rigid guideline for the revealment, yet still allowing wiggle means for creativity that will distinguish their products in the market. The freedom that is allowed for creativity at Apple also has the potence for abuse. The current structure is lacking boundary controls that countersink what behaviors will be tolerated and which behaviors are prohibited. These controls should be carefully chosen by upper management and designed to facilitate creativity and boost employee esprit de corps, yet prevent the workers behavior professional and goal oriented.Recently, upper management has received negative feedback in surveys from the companys employees. We feel that the upper management at Apple is too uninitiated and that it should be comprised of workers promoted from deep down the company. The average senior manager has only been with the company for 5.5 years, when many of the lower level employees have been with the company for double that amount of time. This may be leading to the decrease in employee morale, thus resulting in them losing the drive they need to keep Apple innovative and profitable. Apples employees are adequately educated and whap the products as well, if not better, than most of management, and may potentially lead to the subordinates undermining any recomm blockations made by their seniors.Compensation and bonuses are a main incentive for majestic performance and motivation at Apple. While the goals and measures that the bonuses are found upon are aligned with Apples long term goals, we feel that lower level employees bonuses are based on goals that they are not liable for attaining. For instance, a line worker certainly does not have great control over the companys market share, upright as a marketer has no influence over any product flaws that enginee ring may have missed. Each division should have their knowledge independent measures to determine bonuses. These measures should only consist of goals that they have direct control over. If an employees bonus is dependent on a goal that their job affects, it gives them incentive to pass at their respective duties in the organization. Senior managements compensation on the other hand, should be based on all of ACPIs, as they are responsible for the succeeder of the organization as a whole.Apples new strategy calls for an increase in productivity, which often can mean an increase in speed. Though it was said that Apple remained a very pleasant place to work its offices were bright, modern, high-tech buildings. The atmosphere was still casual, reflecting the California lifestyle of many of the employees. And the companys historically strong, individualistic culture was strengthen by Apples own technology. It seemed that even though mess still enjoyed the environment, they did not necessarily still love the work. One manager said people were be pushed to the limits long hours and limited resources were leading to burnouts. The issue here is that to increase productivity the correct way means an increase in efficiency. Most people concord that the new system had not fundamentally reengineered anything they were simply having employees work harder with fewer resources. Apple was used to an informal style and not used to employees feeling overworked. Apples people management seemed to be letting its people down. A 1992 Survey suggested that the vast majority of employees perceived that the company did not invest in its workforce and that decision maker management was not concerned about their future. It also suggested that most employees believed that Apples best people had been passed over for a promotion.Apple was supposed to be a place that people longed to work for. Now it has become a place where employees are unhappy and with the rapid growth new employe es were often promoted with little time to develop appropriate management skills.John Sculley often emphasized the importance of leadership. Shortly after he announced his long term view of the organization in a companywide meeting, he released his public view of management Capable leadership is essential to Apples immediate and long-term success. Thoughtful planning and execution of executive capabilities will be a strategic edge for Apple as we move forward. With all the new management positions due to the rapid growth, this capable leadership began to be questioned. We have learned that there are many ways in which managers can positively affect organizational culture. The way that employees were currently being employ did not seem to use these techniques. Part of the reason that the managers were lacking the proper skills could be because they were not hired based on their value or depression in the new strategy. If the practices are going to be consistent throughout an organi zation it must promote people whose values are consistent with the companys culture. In order to fix this problem and ensure the successful management of Apple, the manager in charge of getting managers ready for their job sat down with for each one general manager and created a list of core competencies needed for that division. These would align with the new strategy for the most get however there was a new focus. The new focus was one that had never been used before, customer focus. It is interesting that in the middle of implementing this new strategy that seemed to be centered on high productivity, lower prices and product development they would stress the importance of customer focus to all their general managers. This, though not exactly a poor decision, is scratchy with the other ways that the company went about executing this new strategy. Until this point it had been about increasing productivity with longer hours, rapid growth and successful promotions. by and by the 1992 survey that showed no improvement in the previous year, it is easy to see that a diversify was needed. Customer focus seemed to be that change. The reason this inconsistent change was needed was because Apple managers did not believe they had the time to allow the original plan to work. A quality manager was quoted saying We cant wait 3 to ten years to get results. We wont be alive if we wait that long.As a group, our consulting firm has provided you with several solutions to these ongoing problems at Apple. Our solutions relate to four-spot problem areas at the firm compensation, promotion, communication, and creativity.Make compensation and bonuses in line with attainable goals.A line workers bonus needs to be attributed to the job he is performing and the goals which go along with that job. The Senior V.P. Secretary is getting his bonus because the RD team has spent 80 hours a week all year cranking out new ideas and products. It doesnt seem fair that the rewards are not in line with the work done to achieve them.Operational level divisions bonuses based on performance, space of time with the company, end of year evaluations done by management.Upper managements bonuses should be based on ACPIs as a cohesive whole since they are responsible for the marketing and final decision making. The company should not cut salary and switch to a commission based pay method. If the Apple wants to improve their earthy margin, they need to find other ways to cut costs rather than screw over their employees. If employees feel like they are so far stretched beyond their means and burnt out, they will lose their motivation and drive to do the job they love. This can essentially push employees to stop caring about the end product and companys goals because they are so burnt out from trying to reach these unattainable goals. If you allow them to be creative and just give them simple structure and guidelines as well as some direction, they will still be able to mobilise freely and meet overall goals.Promote from at bottomManagement has handed out promotions to employees who may have been unqualified, or may never have worked for the company before. We believe internally advertised job openings would be a better way to make promotions, this way anyone who felt qualified for a position could apply. Other people can make recommendations for co-workers who they feel would also be suitable and qualified to take on that new position. A requirement for the management position will be the Apple University Manager training potential new managers with the Executive readiness program. Rather than simply have this be a review process, they can turn this into a training session. This would help management pass down the organizational vision, image, and voice of the company. The managers will all be trained in a standardized format so everyone works on the like page. The way that Apple had previously promoted employees had significantly decreased their employe es morale and made it difficult for them to respect their managers. With a system that allows for more promotion within the company with seniority taken into consideration there will more than likely maintain their culture and dedication to the company. When a large company makes prompt management modification and changes, culture can easily be the largest factor affected. Therefore, it is imperative that Apple does whatever they can to maintain a strong culture. A strong part of the group (consensus) feeling gives way to a strong culture, as well as assist in increasing employee morale.Communication top-down and Bottom-UpMeeting in San Jose would have been easier to communicate the strategy if they hadnt waited until there were already problems. They would have better off communicating in this style every quarter. This way, employees can give recommendations and ideas to upper management.Managers also need to be qualified and ready to manage. Without management skills there can b e a lack of stiff communication and implementation. With the proper training and qualifications, managers will have the ability to communicate company ideas and direction in the best way possible to their employees.Promotion from within allows the manager to have pre-existing relationships with co-workers and other employees. They will feel more comfortable talking to them, as well as realize the importance and emergency of communication in the organization.Quarterly meetings with all employees to communicate vision to the entire organization rather than only having the top managers know exactly what is going on and the specific directions theyre headed.CreativityDue to the company wanting to crank out new technology at a faster than ever speed, this has completely smothered employees ability to come up with new products at their own pace and expertise. By forcing the new structure, incentives, performance and commission-based pay, people are not given the same freedom to be crea tive. There was a sudden change in the company through establishing rules, lowering autonomy, concentration on improving the profits, and constantly having new managers who are not qualified nor trained for the position. This places a large shock value on employees who are used to working so freely and creatively. We animadvert a more productive and efficient method of finding new ideas and technology would be a similar concept to the process IDEO uses. Group think brainstorming sessions for the RD department to boost creativity and piggy-back launch even more creative ideas. We want to instill the idea that it is ok for RD ideas to fail, but the important part is for the employees to take risks and generate as many ideas as possible to throw on the table for discussion.Apples new strategy was good in theory, but it was pierce with implementation problems. Promotion, communication, creativity, and compensation methods all appeared as if they were overlooked when Apple developed th eir new strategy. Our solutions to these problems should provide a smoother transition for the company, all the while boosting employee morale and productivity.

Signs That My Site Hacked Information Technology Essay

Signs That My Site Hacked Information Techno logy EssayAssume you atomic number 18 the possessor of an e-commerce electronic network pose. What atomic number 18 some of the signs that your site has been hacked. question the major type of attacks you could expect and resulting damage on your site. Prepare a brief report based on your get wordings. You are required to put forward web site development to single of the IT entrepreneurs in your area. Consider in that location are two opinions for building the site in-ho custom with existing ply, out sourcing the entire operation. Discuss which options are in the companys best interest and the reason for choosing that opinion. Provide pros and cons for each option. Prepare a report based on your findings.Introduction to Question (1)Hacking utilize to be defined as One who is proficient at using or programming a computer a computer buff. However, this use has been glum around now, to mean that of a banger One who uses program ming skills to gain illegal adit to a computer network or file. This information is intimately this second meaning, cleft. Before we begin I would like to point out that jades HATE crackers, crackers move over given them a bad name. The main differences in the midst of the two are that hackers try to arouse affaires, crackers try to break things. Hackers made the Internet what it is today. Hackers program websites (among other things) and they do not try and wound the work of others as is thought in todays society. However, as the word hacker is now in such popular use that it is thought it means cracker I volition use the words hacking and cracking for describing these cracking methods.Define question (1)Hacking is not a simple operation or sequence of commands as umpteen people think. Hacking is a skill. To hack you must change and adapt your approach depending on the obstacles you come across. Hacking is not a specific term there are many types of hacking.Answer for Question (1)Some of the signs that my site has been hackedOne of the goals for a hacker is to hack a website without alerting the website possessor. Months go by, and a website accepter hosts a hacked website without knowing the site has been compromised. The website avower may notice some st break away occurrences, but here are some hacked signs that alert the owner of a compromised website. Websites that are hacked can spread malware, and the hacker some cadences steals your customers information. The Eval Base64_decode Function at the Bottom of Your CodeThe Eval office staff is apply to hide code in PHP blogs such as Blogger and WordPress. The base64_decode decodes encoded text that you are un adapted to read when you view your website code files. The hacker places a redirection code using eval and base64_decode at the fundament of your PHP file, so you are unable to read the hacked code and dont notice the redirection to the hackers web page. If you did not put the function s on your page, then your blog or website has probably been hacked.Drop in Google inquisition Engine Results RankIf my site is hacked with a redirection to an online pharmacy, the Google algorithm detects a problem and lowers your search engine rank. If you check your rank very much, you notice a drop in rank. You can drop several pages and even hundreds of pages in the search engine results.A Red Warning Alert in Google Chrome or FirefoxWhen Google detects a hacked website, Firefox and Chrome use the Google API to show a warning message to users. Instead of seeing your website, the web browser shows a red screen alerting the indorser to a hacked website quotation. Users can hit the back button or proceed to my site. In most cases, the user prefers to click the back button to avoid infecting the computer. The best way to detect a hacked website is enter your domain name into Chrome or Firefox and see if the red warning screen shows.Google Indexes Your Site with Pharmacy text e ditionIf your site has been hacked and redirects to a pharmacy, search your domain name with pharmacy text such as Viagra, pharmacy, or meds. Pornographic search phrases are also used to check if your site has been hacked and redirect to adult websites. This type of check gives you a heads up, and lets you know the hackers code is somewhere in your website code.Check the .htaccess File on Your master of ceremonies ServerThe .htaccess file is a part of an Apache server host. One web hack is placing a redirect code in the .htaccess file. Open the .htaccess file hardened on the root of your web host directory. Read through the file and locate any odd website addresses. If you have a website address that is not yours in the .htaccess file, your file has been hacked. These tips help you identify a hacked website. After I fix the hack, I must identify where my site vulnerability is is located. If I do not identify the security hole, you are susceptible to hacks after you go through the trouble of fixing hacked code. The type of attacks I could expect and the damagesPassword crackingIn most of the cases, user passwords are encrypted to protect the privacy of passwords and maintain security of the system. Password cracking is the process of decrypting encrypted passwords. A program that performs cracking is cognize as password cracker. Some crackers are also capable of disabling password protection system and may cause free access to anyone and the owner pass on be losing a mussiness of information in his web site.Ip spoofingIP spoofing is used to commit criminal activity online and to go bad network security. Hackers use IP spoofing so they do not bilk caught spamming and to perpetrate denial of service attacks. These are attacks that involve massive amounts of information beingness sent to computers over a network in an effort to crash the entire network. The hacker does not frig around caught because the origin of the messages cannot be determined callable to the bogus IP address.IP spoofing is also used by hackers to breach network security measures by using a bogus IP address that mirrors one of the addresses on the network. This eliminates the require for the hacker to provide a user name and password to log onto the network.Hijacking an Authorized SessionWith the ability to scram the correct sequence numbers, an aggressor can impart over an authorized session by simply taking over one of the parties to the session. Having inserted himself in the session, the assaulter will simply tell the party taken over that the session has ended, while connecting to the other half of the legitimate session and continuing communication, but this time, tally to the attackers dictate. Haven taken over a trusted communication channel, the attacker can then probe the network for vulnerabilities.Sequesnce GuessingEvery connection among two hosts using TCP contain sequence numbers for both data and acknowledgement. These numbers, used by the TC P protocol to determine out-of-order and lost packets, is one of the facilities of the connection-oriented TCP design, to ensure reliable delivery to the application layer. The sequence numbers are generated pseudo-randomly and an attacker might send spoofed packets to a victim to determine the algorithm generating the sequence numbers, and then use that knowledge to intercept an existing session.RIP AttacksRouting Information protocol (RIP) Routing attacks is oftentimes seen in routers which implemented the original RIP. Routing Information Protocol (RIP) is used to distribute routing information within networks, such as shortest-paths, and advertising routes out from the local network. The original version of RIP has no built in authentication, and the information provided in a RIP packet is often used without verifying it. An attacker could forge a RIP packet, claiming his host X has the instant(prenominal) path out of the network. All packets sent out from that network would then be routed through X, where they could be modified or examined. An attacker could also use RIP to effectively impersonate any host, by causing all traffic sent to that host to be sent to the attackers machine instead.Buffer OverflowsA Buffer Overflow is a flaw that occurs when more data is pen to a block of memory, or buffer, than the buffer is allocated to hold. Exploiting a buffer overflow allows an attacker to modify portions of the target process address space. This ability can be used for a number of purposes, including the followingControl the process executing disperse the processModify internal variablesThe attackers goal is almost always to secure the target process execution. This is accomplished by identifying a function pointer in memory that can be modified, directly or indirectly, using the overflow. When such a pointer is used by the program to direct program execution through a jump or call instruction, the attacker-supplied instruction location will be used, thereby allowing the attacker to control the process. In many cases, the function pointer is modified to reference a location where the attacker has placed assembled machine-specific instructions. These instructions are commonly referred to as shellcode, in reference to the fact that attackers often wish to spawn a command-line environment, or shell, in the context of the running process.ConclusionIf I cannot connect to my web site or log in to your control panel, I have to contact your web hosting company. The hacker attack has changed your password and I need to get a new one. The hacker might have also changed your email address associated with my account at the web hosting company but this is unlikely because the password and the email information are generally segregated. Anyway, depending on the company policies, a web hosting firm would either send you a new password over email OR return with what they need to send you a new password (because they need to verify that the new password request is legitimate). In some cases, I might need to send a fax because the hackers have messed up your email too.Introduction to Question (2)Nowadays, it seems like everyone is saying, I want to site. If you want to build a web site and you know what you want, dont know what you want, trying to learn about it then we have information for you. If you already own a website or a webmaster tone for the best and latest information on successful website development, then we have the website builder for you. Also on this site we have articles and free eBooks on every aspect of website development, including internet marketing, home based businesses and affiliate marketing.Define question (2)There are many dissimilar routes a web site owner can go for getting all of the content done for his online business. The two directions he could take, whether its hiring in-house or outsourcing to a content creation company, allow for many different options and different ways to get your content project done. The route you take can have effect on a number of things, like persona of the content, your expenses, and the time it will take to get everything done. Since the content will probably be the most important part of your web site, you will want to take all things into consideration before making your final examination decision.Answer to Question (2)IN-HOUSE WITH EXISTING STAFFHiring in-house definitely has its own advantages. This is because anytime you have a valuable pick like a team of writers in the Internet industry you are able to accomplish many different things because there are so many ways that you can use content on the Internet (it doesnt always just have to be on-site content). It all really depends on your own companys content needs however. You will be able to train writers and mold their styles to the way you want your content to be written.ADVANTAGESGives you ControlIf design services are part of your business, then go oning it under your con trol allows you to provide the best services for your customers. This means that if your business sells design services, or depends on a strong, moral force online presence for the bulk of its revenue, an in-house design team is essential. You dont want to rely on a contractor over whom you do not have complete control to make or break your business.Communicate Better and Save TimeInteracting with outsourced talent can be challenging, especially if your contractor is . People under your sensible horizon are easier to find and easier to direct, so when you need something done, you can explain it to them in person.Save (lots of) MoneyYou will find that you will fulfill money in the long run by using in-house talent. Even though you will have to make the investment in payroll and infrastructure, over time you get better results and spend less money than you would by hiring an outside firm. In-house design also benefits from the standpoint of project cost. Contractors often will pocke t some or all of the difference if they finish a project below cost. If your In-house team completes the project at less cost, that cost savings shows up in your bottom line.DISADVANTAGESMaintenance contract with an international fashionAlthough probably the most expensive approach, maintenance contract with an external agency does provide the best level of service. If the agency provide the right kind of service this can be very much like working with an outsource team. The agency will really get to understand the business, evolve your website on a regular basis and still provide all of the benefits of an external agency.Part time contractorsFor smaller organizations that cannot afford fulltime in-house staff but who wish to enjoy the benefits that come with that approach, there is the option to take on a part-time contractor. These individuals will probably have 2 or 3 websites they manage on a regular basis but still will be able to work more closely with you than an external a gency.Ad-hoc specialistsFor larger organisations it may sometimes be appropriate to bring in specialists to compliment an existing in-house team. For example specialists in accessibility, usability or design can often work well alongside an in-house team primarily made up of coders.OutsourcingOutsourcing is contracting out the management and development of a process or deed to external sources. Many online businesses have found it desirable to outsource their website. While some businesses lack the in-house expertise, others find the logistics of managing the website distracts their attention from their core competencies and some other find it to be cost-effective. In the present scenario of IT, all organizations whether big or small, depend on outsourcing to stay competitive. This is quite advantageous as a wide range of options is available, in the form of experienced reliable companies offering their services. Outsourcing helps a company to focus on its core business more effici ently.OutsourcingAdvantagesYou can be guarantee that if you go this route you are leaving all of your content needs in the hands of very well experienced and trained writers writers that have written for the Internet for a long catch of time. There will more than likely be a whole team of editors, project managers, and writers and they will have a their system down pat already and will be ready to take on whatever kind of volume you need to push. You will have a faster turnaround time, and therefore you will be able to scale up quite easily. Outsourcing your content will also save you a lot of time and money. Hiring and training in-house writers takes a lot of time and can also be quite expensive. Outsourcing your content to a company unremarkably means you will spend less money because they usually charge less and you wont have to spend money building up your own resources.DisadvantagesOne of the major disadvantages is the differences in writing style that you may see. Outsourc ing your content means outsourcing to a number of different writers, all of which have their own alone(predicate) writing style. Since they have already been trained to write a certain way for the Internet, you will have to make sure that the writers will be able to fulfill your standards in terms of style and SEO needs. For example some people may want a double space after each period and some people like the single space approach. It seems like a small problem, but little problems like that can cause a lot of trouble if not worked out before the project gets started. This problem really escalates if you are outsourcing your content to many different freelancers.Language or cultural differences fight to understand your tech support specialist can make a frustrating situation even worse. Unfortunately, many small businesses choose onshore outsourcing as their least-expensive option, while not considering the time and aggravation spent on communication issues. This can be mitigated either by carefully interviewing various offshore firms and giving them a test drive, or by hiring a local firm. The latter may also allow you to have the specialist on-site, which is highly recommended for manipulation most IT support needs. Not part of the team Because outsourced IT specialists are there only when scheduled or when you need them to fix a problem, youll spend time bringing them up to speed when issues do arise or when you want them to provide advice on future technology initiatives. Again, there is a solution select an outsourced firm involved in your IT needs on an ongoing basis via managed services.Companies best interestThe best for my company would be outsourcing because its gives us a saviour web-hosting and trusted from virus. Although its not cheap but it would be easy for us because its been maintain and updated always. This could increase our web viewers and customers too.ConclusionOnce you have a team of writers, you will always have to find a way to k eep them busy or else you will risk losing them. If you dont have the ability to keep a team of writers busy for a substantial amount of time, then hiring in-house writers would prove to be a big waste of time. Your turnaround time will also not be as fast, and you will spend more time dealing with your writers time that probably could have better been spent elsewhere. A good route to go (a route that many companies take) is to hire a few in-house writers as well as outsource content needs that make sense to outsource. The Internet business calls for unique situations and needs, and the route you go with your content creation should definitely be based on these specific needs. One thing to be aware of is that some information technology consultants that you outsource to, will in turn outsource services to their own partners. Look for companies that take final responsibility for your system, no matter whether they or a partner provided a particular service. This will help make thing s simpler for your organization, especially at times of deform and concern when you most need things to be easy.

Easter Uprising in Ireland Essay -- History Historical Irish Essays

Easter Uprising in Ireland On Easter Monday, April 24, 1916, a force of Irishmen attempted to seize Dublin, with the last intention of eliminating British rein and creating a completely independent Ireland. Their leaders, such as Patrick Pearse and James Connolly, knew that they were destined to die, but saw the importance of independence, thus the mutiny was inevitable. In the eyes of many the mutiny was a complete failure, with the loss of lives and damage of buildings, but in the eyes of many Irish patriots the rebellion was a complete success as it promoted Irish nationalism and ultimately lead to an independent Ireland. The circumstances that lead to the rebellion are of an intense complexity, historical, social, political and psychological, and the rebellion itself has lasting impacts on society today. Since 1603, when Ireland was for the first time effectively united under British rule, Irish history has been dictated by the British, and the poor kindred between Ireland a nd Britain. The root of the problem was that Ireland was a mainly Roman Catholic country ruled by Protestant foreigners, colonial administrators acting on behalf of a Protestant Government far away. During the 18th one C, the Irish Catholics were deprived of all rights, as one English judge brutally put it The law does non suppose any such person to exist as an Irish Roman Catholic. The Irish could only assume that the English did not regard them as human beings at all, and this was adoptly seen in the Great Famine of the 19th century. The Great Famine of 1845-1851 was crucial in shaping Irelands attitudes towards British rule and leading to the nationalism that provoked the eventual uprising of 1916. The peasants lived on potatoes, it was their only crop, and when the crop was killed by disease famine struck. The potato was primarily grown because it could assert a relatively high yield with little intensive care. Many though relied on the crop and that is why the famine of 184 5-1849 was so catastrophic. Ireland had a universe of discourse of 8 million before the famine, 1 million died from the famine and another 1-2 million immigrated to America. Irelands population, which had grown so strongly throughout the 18th century and early 19th century, had been shattered. The impact that the famine had on 1916 was simple the English were blamed for the famine. Th... ...ellion cigarette be seen to be an utter failure, but the bigger personation shows that the success of the rebellion can not be undermined, as it resulted in a great revival of nationalism and eventually, the establishment of the Republic of Ireland in 1948. In the book, The Modern World since 1870, it is said of Pearse Looking back one can see that his death lit a flame which illuminated Irelands course to independence. It must be understood that the Easter Rising was never designed for military victory, it was in the desire of freedom, and in this regard the rebellion can not be seen as a f ailure. The Irish Rebellion, stemming from a history of oppression and neglect by the British, was always inevitable. Although the rising was a clear military failure, the legacy of the rising means that it can be seen as a success it did achieve many of the aims of the leaders. The purpose of the insurrection was not to acquire the battle, but to leave the legacy to the Irish people that without struggle there is no progress. New nationalism was inspired, and in 1948, with the establishment of the Republic of Ireland, the rising was in the end seen as a politically and socially successful movement.

Low Jobs :: essays research papers fc

LOSTREWARD IF FOUND Higher Paying JobsThere are too many low paying jobs here in San Antonio. If this continues we will see San Antonios economy decline and this city will become nothing but a low income tourism town. The legions presence at one time gave San Antonio its backbone to fall back to. With the closing of Kelly Air Force base that backbone is now diminishing. Many hot labor workers, some who worked at the base for many years were forced to go back into a workforce, which did not pay as much as they were used to making at the base. Unfortunately, being a tourism town also brings with it the low service/low paying jobs and we are dependent on outside money to stimulate the local economy. You always hear rough new jobs coming to San Antonio, but the majority of them are companies flavor for low good workers. What is the Economic development foundation doing to attract big business here? What are our leaders thinking when they say they are promoting San Antonio and push ing for more than than jobs? Is this what they deliver, more hotels and restaurants so we can continue to serve the rich? We mustiness focus on luring new big businesses with higher skilled/high wage jobs. We must also educate our workforce to be able to compete for those positions. The primary fix to this problem is to bring high-income jobs to San Antonio. We need more jobs such as those in technology, industry, finance and healthcare. Cities like Dallas, Austin and Houston have been successful in attracting large corporations in bringing high-income jobs into their cities. We must be as creative if not more when convincing companies to move here. If we can offer hotels tax abatements to lure them into building here, why cant we do the same for high skilled worker typewrite companies that want to make San Antonio a home. Cities such as Dallas and Houston suffer from things like high cost of living, crime, pollution and bad traffic. These items should be carrots for us when comp anies are looking for a place to move into. Consider the following average annual salaries in San Antonio during 1998, a housekeeping supervisor earns around $17,600, a waitress about $12,550,an electronic engineer $57,290, financial managers $56,610, and medical scientists around $70,060. Looking at the previous salaries it is safe to say the here in San Antonio there is a simple disparity of salaries.

Georgiana in The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne :: essays research papers

In & deoxyadenosine monophosphate8220The Birthmark, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Georgiana& adenine8217s futile attempt to be flawless by cooperating in her declare murder doesn&8217t make her any wiser, especially because such a sacrifice does not earn her closeness with her economise. The character of Georgiana epitomizes the virtues upheld by the conventions of her age she is beautiful, docile and has no ambitions of her own other than to make her husband happy. In addition to this apparent perfect union is a "singular mark, deeply interwoven, as it were, with the texture and substance of her face" (Hawthorne 11). The birthmark is differently interpreted by all. Initially Georgiana thinks of the birthmark, as &8220a charm, and Aylmer knows not &8220whether to term the birthmark a defect or a beauty . . . (Hawthorne 11). Most persons of her own sex refers it as &8220the bloody hand, that &8220Quite destroy(s) the effect of Georgiana&8217s beauty . . . (Hawt horne 11). While her admirers &8220were won&8217t to say that some fairy at her birth-hour had laid her tiny hand upon the infant&8217s cheek, and left this impress the birthmark there in token of the magic endowments that were to give her such sway over all hearts (Hawthorne 11). Georgiana&8217s occasional approach towards the birthmark reveals while she answers &8220No, indeed, when her husband asks her &8220has it never occurred to you Georgiana that the mark upon your cheek might be removed? (Hawthorne 10). Aylmer however visions the birthmark as Hawthorne says &8220small blue stains which sometimes occur in the purest statuary marble . . . (11).Later on &8220Georgiana soon learn(s) to shudder as her husband&8217s hatred towards the birthmark considerably increases (Hawthorne 12). Aylmer&8217s obsession soon starts reflecting in Georgiana. She at this point ignores all warnings and falls prey to her husband&8217s ambition of removing the birthma rk, of which, he although is &8220convinced of the perfect practicability . . . (Hawthorne 13). Georgiana learns from Aylmer&8217s ideate that, there might be a situation in the course of the operation when he might be &8220inexorably resolved to cut or wrench it her heart away (Hawthorne 13). Her recent interlingual rendition of the birthmark overshadows this dream as she now even at the &8220remotest possibility wants that &8220the attempt be made, at whatever risk (Hawthorne 13).Aylemer&8217s dream however is not the only warning that Georgiana receives. Aylmer to gain confidence in her wife and to declare success in his new venture performs a oppose of experiments, which results futile.
